Monu Chaudhary of Delhi and Maharashtra's Ishpreet Chadha caused the biggest upsets on the first day of the main round group stage stunning the defending champion and runner-up in the fifth National 6-Reds Snooker Championship 2015 at Bengal Rowing Club here today.

While Chaudhary upset last year's winner Varun Madan, Rahul Sachdev who had finished second went down to Chadha in the two biggest upsets of round one.

Both Varun and Sachdev stretched their matches till the last but failed to save the decider.

After losing the first frame, Chaudhary won next three to put extra pressure on Varun.

However, Varun reverted and won next two frame to equalise the score and he further fought hard in the last frame but Chaudhary was slightly better in the end and finished the frame 29-26.

Chadha was also 2-0 up when Sachdev geared up to win next three frames and gained a 3-2 lead.

In sixth frame, Chadha came up with a well-crafted break of 61 points to set decider that he later won by 5 points (29-24).

Local favourite Sourav Kothari played his first match today and initially went down 1-2 but later controlled the entire game wisely and won 4-2 against seasoned player from Madhya Pradesh Bharat Sisodiya.
