"Moonlight" actor Ashton Sanders is set to star as lead in Sony's "The Equalizer 2", which also features Denzel Washington.
Washington's character Robert McCall will be a father figure to Sanders' part in the sequel to the 2014 action- thriller, reported Deadline.
The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, will begin production next month in Boston.
Richard Wenk wrote the script, and Jason Blumenthal, Todd Black, Washington, Steve Tisch, Mace Neufeld, Alex Siskin and Tony Eldridge are serving as the producers on the film, which has a September 14, 2018, release date.
