Moradabad violence accused to be felicitated

A social organisation is set to felicitate the 86 people, who were arrested in connection with violence in Moradabad few months back.

Legal advisor of Amroha unit of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, which is organising the felicitation programme, Vimal Kishore said 86 people, including the district unit chief of BJP, Girish Tyagi, would be felicitated on October 5.

Those who were arrested in connection with violence relating to the banned mahapanchayat in Kanth area of Moradabad district on July 4 and later released, would be felicitated at the programme, Vimal said.

He said that application has been moved for permission from the district administration to organise the programme.
 

He said that BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai and general secretary Sunil Bansal have been invited.

Confirming the invitation Bajpai said that if permission was given by the administration he would attend the programme.

However, he clarified that the party has nothing to do with the function.

BJP's Amroha unit president Tyagi said that BJP workers and supporters were forcibly arrested by police while they were going to attend the mahapanchayat peacefully on July 4.

Tyagi said that he and other workers were charged under different sections, including rioting, attempt to murder, illegal assembly and causing loss to railway and public property. Of those arrested, 63 were released on bail on September 26, whereas 23 others were released on different dates till July 19.

Tyagi said that all 86 people, who have been released on bail, including him, have been invited by the Sabha.
