Moral values in politics declining

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav today said moral values in politics are declining and it can be addressed only through the socialist ideology.

"Today society is facing a challenge of inequality and politics degradation in moral values..Society is being threatened by divisive forces ...These problems and challenges can be countered only through Socialist ideology," he said.

The former chief minister was addressing a fucntion to mark 85th birth anniversary of socialist idealogue Janeshwar Misra here.

Hailing Misra, Akhilesh said, "He had been a minister in the central government but had led a clean life away from corruption ...He had always struggled against communal and capitalist forces."
 

A party release here said similar functions were held all over the state and partymen took resolve to follow the path shown by Misra to strengthen the socialist movement.

Speaking in Unnao yesterday, Akhilesh had said the Yogi Adiyanath had broken the confidence of the people in 100 days and the BJP was resorting to poaching of opposition lawmakers as it was scared of facing the electorate again.

His comments came days after three MLCs of his party joined the BJP.
