Himachal Pradesh will have more cradle baby reception centres at specific locations in zonal or regional hospitals, community health centers, nursing homes for abandoned and vulnerable children, an official said today.
The state already has four centres - two in Shimla and one each in Rekong Peo and Solan - started by the directorate of women and child development, said an official spokesman from the women and child development department.
The main objective of these centres is to rescue abandoned children and look after them with due care and affection till they are given for adoption, he said.

These centres will enable safe adoption of abandoned children by families, the spokesman said.
The centres will be maintained under the supervision of the officer-in charge of the respective department, he said.
