The electorate in Tamil Nadu has crossed the five crore mark with the addition of over 66 lakh voters since 2011 and 34 lakh among them are women.
Though men voters outnumber the fairer sex in the overall tally of 5.38 crore, women forged ahead in terms of new voters.
Only about 31 lakh men enrolled themselves since the 2011 assembly elections, whereas over 34 lakh more women have become eligible to cast their ballots in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

There were 2,37,05,640 men, 2,34,08,812 women and 1,394 others (transgenders) in the total of 4,71,15,846 at the time of 2011 Assembly polls.
Since 2011, a total of 66,36,836 voters, including 1,602 transgenders, have enrolled themselves.
According to the Election Commission statistics, only 78.29 per cent or 3,68,85,193 voters exercised their franchise in the 2011 polls and of this 23,319 ballots were found invalid.
