Keeping in view the safety and security of the growing number of tourists in the coastal areas of the state, the West Bengal government today decided to recruit more police personnel for eight police stations in those areas.
The state Cabinet today took the decision to recruit 267 police personnel for eight coastal police stations for the security and safety of the growing number of tourists in those places, state finance minister Amit Mitra told reporters here.
"The Cabinet decided to create 1011 new posts in different departments starting from health and family welfare (444), home and hill affairs (271), higher education and biotechnology (88), food and supplies (69) and 139 posts in 139 other departments," Mitra said.

The Cabinet also decided to recruit at least 2,700 lady constables for West Bengal Police and 43 district offices, he said.
"So in total there will be 3754 new posts for which recruitment process will start immediately," Mitra said.
