The Haryana Power Utilities has formulated a new scheme under which, the panchayats cooperating in installing electricity meters outside homes, will be given 20 hour or more power on urban pattern.

The scheme was inaugurated by Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala, after he laid the foundation stone of a 33 KV sub-station at Sajuma village in the Kaithal district today.

Under this scheme about Rs 20 to 30 lakh will be spent on one village and power utilities will bear the expenditure, Surjewala said, adding that the panchayats of the feeders concerned will have to pass a proposal.

In the coming two years, about Rs 300 crore will be spent under various schemes to strengthen the power transmission and distribution system of Kaithal district, he said.

Adequate power is available in the state and as per requirement, there is also a facility to purchase power from open market for a short period, the Minister added.
