Twenty five malnourished dogs and two pups have been rescued from a flat in South Delhi's Vasant Kunj area here, police said today.
The owner of the first floor flat identified as Gokul Nair (32), who probably was a dog lover himself, had brought these dogs to his house over the period of time from the streets.
"Nair was jobless and did not have any money to feed these dogs. All of them were in a poor condition. There was dirt and filth all over the house and the neighbours had complained about continuous barking and unbearable stink from the duplex house," said a police official.

"25 dogs and two pups were rescued from the house, all of whom were starved and malnourished. They were taken to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in animal ambulances and provided medical attention, food and other things," he said.
Nair will be allowed to meet the dogs but he cannot take them along with him. A case has been registered against him although he has not been arrested, the officer added.
