Police today seized more than 3,000 litres of liquor, brought in from Haryana and kept in over 300 cartons stacked inside a truck, in Vaishali district, an official said.
"Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted in the early hours close to a canal between Repura and Madaideeh villages, where cartons of liquor were being unloaded from a truck," said Ajay Kumar, the SHO of Patepur police station.
"Noticing policemen, those involved in the illegal activity fled from the spot. We seized the truck as well as the liquor kept in 354 cartons. The total quantity of liquor was 3049 litres. It was brought from Haryana on the truck bearing a Rajasthan number plate," he said.
Efforts are on to trace and nab the owner of the truck and others who may be involved in the business, the SHO added.
Sale and consumption of liquor had been completely banned in Bihar by the Nitish Kumar government in April 2016.
