The government has given six more months till April 2015 to Andhra Pradesh and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence to complete the modalities for export of Red Sanders wood.
"More time has been allowed to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) to finalise the modalities and export of respective allocated quantity of Red Sanders wood," Directorate general of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said in a notification.
Earlier, the DGFT has given time till October 31 to finalse the modalities.
According to media reports, the wood is an endangered species of flora protected under the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna. It is illegal to possess and sell the same.
