After being booked for having assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, Goa's Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar is heading towards another trouble after Crime Branch found thousands of matka (gambling) slips at his residence during the raid.

Crime Branch had conducted raid at Kavlekar's house and offices this week after First Information Report (FIR) was filed against him for possessing assets disproporationate to his known sources of income.

"We found several matka slips inside the house of Kavlekar during the raid. This indicates that there was full-fledged matka (gambling) racket being run from his house," Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Karthik Kashyap told reporters today.

The slips were found in the office room inside his bungalow during a search as a part of investigation into his assets after obtaining the court order.

Kashyap said the room and slips were sealed and it would be investigated as part of the main probe into the assets.

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has already registered a case against Kavlekar and his wife under different sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Kashyap said the different sections under Goa Public Gambling Act would also be added to the FIR against Kavlekar.
