Mortal remains of Armyman consigned to flames

39-year-old Mahesh of the Rajputana Rifles, who was presently posted in Banihal area of Jammu-Kashmir, lost his life in an encounter on Sunday.

His body was brought in a military vehicle to his native village Jatwada where his last rites were performed yesterday.

An army contingent reversed its arms as a mark of salute to the martyr, while a wreath was laid on on the pyre on behalf of the district administration.

Dinesh Kumar, younger brother of the deceased, lit the funeral pyre.
