Mortal remains of Lt Col Ranjit Singh consigned to flames

The mortal remains of Lieutenant Colonel Ranjit Singh, who was killed in the fire that broke out in CAD Pulgaon, were today consigned to flames with full military honours at Kankhal near Haridwar.

Singh hailed from Uttarakhand.

The funeral pyre was lit by his elder brother Gurmit Singh and the Colonel's son Ranveer Singh.

A host of distinguished people attended the funeral, including Pradesh Congress President Kishore Upadhyay and BJP MLA Madan Kaushik.

58 Armoured Brigade of the Army offered him a guard of honour before the funeral pyre was lit.

A floral wreath sent by Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul was also placed.
