Mortal remains of Major Manoj brought to hometown

The mortal remains of Major Manoj, who was among the 19 army personnel killed in a massive fire at the central ammunition depot at Pulgoan in Wardha district of Maharashtra, were brought today to his native place here.

Military officials gave a guard of honour when the body of the Major was brought at the airport. Power Minister Kadakampally Surendran represented the state government there.

The body, being kept at the military hospital, would be brought to the Major's residence tomorrow morning for the public to pay homage. The last rites will be held at Shanthi Kavadam with full military honours.
 

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had visited the residence and met family of Manoj yesterday.

The massive fire had broke out on Tuesday at one of Asia's biggest ammunition depot that houses the largest stockpile of weapons in the country.

Manoj was to visit Kerala in a few days in connection with his mother's surgery.
