Russia's top investigative body says the chairman of the company that runs the country's busiest airport, Domodedovo, has been detained in connection with a suicide bombing there five years ago that killed 37 people.
Dmitry Kamenshchik faces charges of carrying out services that did not meet safety requirements and resulted in the deaths of multiple people.
Vladimir Markin, spokesman for Russia's Investigative Committee, said in a statement today that Kamenshchik and three others, who were detained earlier, introduced a new inspection system at the Moscow airport's entrances that made the airport more vulnerable.
In the January 24, 2011 blast, a suicide bomber blew himself up in the international arrivals area. The explosion wounded 180 others. Chechen rebels claimed responsibility.
