Most commodity prices move up

Prices of thoor dal, urad dal, gram dal, sugar, maida and sooji moved up on Friday, while all other commodities ruled steady at the wholesale foodgrains market during the week.

The foodgrain market remained closed today on account of "Independence day" .

Since Monday, prices of thoor dal traded at various levels and settled on Friday with the increase of Rs 1,300 per quintal from last week's closing rate of Rs 11,200.

Urad dal opened the week at Rs 10,700 from the same rate of last Saturday and went up by Rs 500 per quintal this Thursday and further increased by Rs 100 on Friday to settle at Rs 11,300.
 

Likewise, Gram dal rose by Rs 200 per quintal to touch Rs 6,200 from last week's closing rate of Rs.6,000.

In addition, sugar opened the week at Rs 2,550 from its last week's rate of Rs 2,400, a gain of Rs 150 per quintal and traded different rates and settled on Friday at Rs 2,800.

Prices of Moong dal (Rs 10,000), wheat (Rs 2,850) remained unchanged from its last week's closing rate.
