Most Indian SMEs wish to adopt cloud computing, says report

Ninety per cent of SMEs in the country feel cloud adoption is increasingly important to enable business success to innovate as well as do things faster, smarter and more sustainably, according to a Circle Research Global Report sponsored by SAP SE released today.

The total addressable market is expected to grow to USD 88 billion by 2017 and hence Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) look for cloud, analytics and mobile solutions to improve operations and become more efficient, the report said.

"SMEs have greater opportunities than before to expand and diversify. They utilise technology to support business growth and achieve operational excellence," SAP's president for Asia-Pacific Japan, Adaire Fox-Martin said.
 

SAP's charter is to bring innovative technology that can help them get a step closer to being a faster, smarter and sustainable business, she added.

The company interviewed 800 senior decision makers in SMEs with up to 1,000 people as part of its survey.

Additionally, 87 per cent of very ambitious Indian SMEs believe that enterprise applications, analytics and mobile solutions would play an important role in achieving their ambitions, the report said.

The biggest single ambition for SMEs in the country is customer success (44 per cent), followed by 34 per cent who are keen on achieving growth and 12 per cent for business improvement, it said.

For Indian SMEs, growth is primarily driven by new products. Seventy six per cent of those for whom achieving growth is an ambition, give high importance to introducing new products while 74 per cent focus on increasing revenue, it said.

On an average, Indian SMEs are 77 per cent of the way along the journey towards achieving their growth ambitions, the report said.

SAP launched a pan-India bus roadshow, SAP Innovative Express, to bring innovative technology to the doorsteps of Indian SMEs. The idea is to help SMEs fuel their growth.

"With SAP Innovation Express, we will further assist organisations adopt world class solutions and inspire them to compete as per global standards and ultimately, become better run businesses," SAP India MD Ravi Chauhan said.
