Most of the rivers in West Midnapore district are flowing above the danger mark as huge amount of water has been released from dams in Jharkhand, official sources said.

"Huge amount of water has been released from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) dams in Jharkhand as a result most of the rivers in West Midnapore district are flowing above the danger mark," the sources said.

The district administration has made arrangement for evacuation of people living in low lying areas to safe places and has also kept boats and relief materials ready, they said.

Relief camps have been opened in many places where people have been shifted due to the flood threat, the sources added.
