Most tobacco consumers have never tried kicking the bad habit despite being aware of ill-effects of the addiction, according to a survey.
It also added that though willpower is rated as the biggest source of motivation for quitting smoking or chewing tobacco; motivation by friends, peers is ranked next to it.
"Nine out of 10 respondents never tried quitting of smoking or chewing tobacco," a survey conducted by general insurer ICICI Lombard has said.

As per the general insurer, the survey was conducted among 1,111 habitual tobacco products consumers of 18-35 age group in Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Hyderabad.
It also said that tobacco consumption had increased among 40 per cent respondents in the recent past.
While noting that Indians consume cigarettes at an average of six-seven times daily, the survey said around 7 out of 10 respondents started tobacco consumption with cigarettes.
Talking on city-specific outcome, the survey outcome showed respondents in Mumbai are struggling to kick the butt.
