Around 65 per cent of women want to look confident rather than appearing feminine, glamorous, intelligent or youthful, a new UK poll has found.

The times that women want to look most confident included job interviews (28 per cent), a night out with friends (26 per cent) and a date (11 per cent) - with makeup (37 per cent) being a leading tool to put over a confident appearance.

Most women in UK want to exude an air of self-assurance - ahead of appearing feminine (52 per cent), glamorous (33 per cent), sexy (26 per cent), intelligent (12 per cent) or youthful (three per cent), according to the poll by shopping channel QVC.

Tanned skin (36 per cent) was found to be the ultimate confidence boosting make-up fix, followed by a defined eyebrow (26 per cent), rosy cheeks (17 per cent) and red lips (14 per cent).

The poll also found that English singer and songwriter, Jessie J, best represents the look of confidence that two thirds of Britons desire, the 'Daily Express' reported.

Jessie is recognised for a strong make-up look with bright lips, colourful eyes and a rosy blush.

However, 77 per cent admitted they did not have the courage to showcase such a look and instead opted for a natural appearance like Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, whose image 46 per cent of Brits try to replicate.
