A woman and her son were killed after a wall of their mud hut collapsed and fell on them in Darbhanga district, officials said today.
The incident happened at Basudeopur Chakdah village under the jurisdiction of Sonki Sahayak police station yesterday night, officials said.
The wall of their mud hut collapsed due to intermittent rains in the district. The woman and her son were sleeping when the incident happened, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO)Gajendra Prasad Singh said.
The deceased were identified as Durga Devi (55) and Harikant Yadav (20), the SDO said.
The bodies were sent to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital, Darbhanga for post-mortem, he said.
A sum of Rs 20,000 has been given to the next of kin of the deceased. In addition a sum of Rs 3000 each was given to cremate them under the 'Kabir Antyeshti Yojana'.
