A 33-year-old woman, who recently sold her new born male baby and another girl child two years ago, was today arrested along with two buyers of the kids and two agents, police said.

The woman, who has six children, including three boys, gave birth to another boy in March this year at a government Hospital. The kid was admitted to the hospital for monitoring the growth last week.

However, the nurse there found that the boy was missing few days later. The Koothappadi Village Administrative Officer R Viswanathan, who conducted an inquiry into the incident, also confirmed the kid was missing and lodged a complaint with police, Superintendent of Police Asra Garg, told PTI.

An inquiry revealed that the mother had sold the child to a 42-year-old man through two agents for Rs 20,000. It was also found that she had sold her another girl child for a few thousand rupees to a man through the same agents in Erode district two years back.

The mother, the two receivers and two agents were arrested today. They were produced before a Magistrate who remanded them to judicial custody and lodged in Salem Central Jail.

The woman's husband is absconding.

Dharmapuri District Social Welfare Officer B Kotteeswari said that both the babies were rescued and lodged in a house.
