This Ganesh Chaturthi, Mother Dairy is set to launch Orange Barfi here, a local delicacy made using orange pulp and milk sourced from farmers, on a call given by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
"The sweet is prepared with 25 per cent orange juice and milk. Therefore, it will help orange growers as well as dairy farmers," Gadkari said in New Delhi.
The Road Transport & Highways and MSME minister, who is a member of Parliament from Nagpur, said the dairy brand would launch the 'Orange Burfi' on Ganesh Chaturthi.
Mother Dairy's Orange Mawa Barfi is made of milk and orange pulp and will be available in a pack size of 400 grams priced at Rs 220/pack. The product has a shelf life of 9 days, the company's spokesperson said, adding that the newly introduced product will be available through its booth network in Nagpur.
"The newly introduced Orange Mawa Barfi will be a true amalgamation of Mother Dairy's goodness of milk and the very popular Nagpur oranges. We are hopeful that the unique offering will truly delight and will be a treat to the consumers," the spokesperson told PTI.
Under the MoU signed between the Maharashtra government and Mother Dairy, a subsidiary of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), has set-up a milk procurement network across 10 districts of Vidarbha and Marathwada.
It has also refurbished Nagpur Dairy Plant, having a capacity to process 50,000 litres of liquid milk/day. In addition, the company has established more than 80 booths in the vicinity of Nagpur region.
