A 22-year-old woman and her
two-year-old daughter died today in a fire that mysteriously broke out at their house in Dhaula town here, police said.
Mausmi Devi and her daughter Poonam were killed in the incident, they said, adding the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Devi's family members have registered a complaint against her husband Shankar Lal, mother-in-law and others under Sections 498 (dowry) and 304 (attempt to murder) of IPC and Section 176 of CrPC 176 (inquiry by Magistrate into cause of death), police said.
"The woman married Lal around five years ago and the SDM will conduct an inquiry into the incident under Section 176 of CrPC," SHO (Chandwaji) Rajveer Singh Champawat said, adding the bodies have been sent for postmortem.
No one has been arrested yet. The matter is being investigated, he said.
