It was the mother of the prime accused, a juvenile, who had approached police and informed them that her son along with two friends had allegedly murdered 18-year-old Shiva Kalra after taking him to Murthal in Haryana on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
It was after this revelation that the juvenile mastermind was apprehended and his two friends, identified as Parth Vajpayee (19) and Varun Jindal (19) were arrested.
"The mother of the main accused, who is a juvenile, approached us and informed that her son and his two friends had killed Shiva. On interrogation, they revealed that Shiva had made a personal remark against the accused due to which he was harbouring a grudge against him and had planned to kill him," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh.

Shiva Kalra's father had passed away seven years ago following an ailment and his mother and younger sister were relying on him. He had even quit his regular studies and was studying through correspondence. He was also in search of a job to support his family.
Kalra had a tiff with the juvenile accused around a month ago in Japanese park area. A passersby had informed the police following which both the families were called at Prashant Vihar police station where a compromise was made between both the parties and the matter was settled.
The juvenile had threatened to kill Kalra at that time but his family had not taken it seriously thinking it to be a casual fight among youngsters.
Shiva had gone missing after he went to meet his friends in outer Delhi's Rohini on the intervening night of October 11 and October 12. His partially burnt body was recovered from near Murthal the next day.
