The mother of three slain siblings today affirmed and submitted a petition for filing before the Calcutta High Court seeking a CBI investigation into their murders claiming lack of confidence in the West Bengal Police.

Zarina Biwi alleged in the petition that she was forced to state that Labhpur Trinamool Congress MLA Manirul Islam was not involved in the case during her statement under Section 164 of CrPC though he was named as an accused in the FIR, her counsel Subrata Mukhopadhyay said.

Mukhopadhyay said that the petitioner alleged that the state government did not carry out Justice Dipankar Dutta's directive of April 21, 2014, to provide security to the victims' family.

It was claimed that the victims' family was not given any security by the government and were being threatened as a result of which they were unable to stay at their home.

Zarina Biwi, who alongwith relative Anarul Sheikh filed the petition, claimed that as Manirul was a ruling party MLA, it will be difficult for the state police to do an impartial investigation.

Mukhopadhyay said that as such a CBI investigation was prayed for before the court.

The matter is likely to be taken up before the court of Justice Dipankar Dutta later in the week, he said.

On June 4, 2010, siblings Dhanu Sheikh, Kotan Sheikh and Turak Sheikh were murdered at their home at Labhpur in Birbhum district.
