A mother-son duo has been booked for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 15 lakh on the name of selling a house.

One Balbir Kaur had lodged a complaint against Avtar Singh and his mother Pushpinder Kaur, City SHO Inspector Sukhpal Singh said.

She told police that she had done a deal with the duo for buying a 'kothi' here for Rs 42.5 lakh in 2014, the SHO said.

Balbir said she had given them Rs 15 lakh as advance ('biana') for it, he said.

But the duo kept delaying the registry of the property, he said.

She later found out that the duo had sold the property to another person and were duping her under the pretext of delaying the registry, he said.

An FIR was registered against the duo on the charge of cheating and criminal breach.

No one has been arrested yet, the SHO said.
