A 40-year-old woman along with her two children allegedly committed suicide today by jumping into Kali Bein rivulet at Sultanpurlodhi city here, police said.
Tripta, her daughter Jasmeen (6) and son Bablu (5) drowned in the Kali Beini rivulet. They were residents of Sultanpurlodhi.
Police said the victims had gone to Nirmal Kutiya to take medicines from a charitable mobile van in the morning. When Tripta did not return home, her family members started looking for them and found the boy's body floating in the rivulet.
Divers recovered the other two bodies later, they said.
Sultanpurlodhi DSP Piara Singh said Tripta was mentally upset and might have committed suicide by jumping into the rivulet.
Investigation to ascertain the reason behind the suicide is underway and the bodies have sent for postmortem, he said.
