Motivate youths to be part of nation's development: Prez

President Pranab Mukherjee today emphasised on the need for motivating youths for them to play a play a proactive role in the country's development.

Interacting with the winners of 'Tata Building India School Essay Competition', Mukherjee said the first step in this direction would be to have a clear understanding of the historical, political, social and economic aspects of our freedom struggle and the national priorities that guided the framing of our Constitution.

He said that it is very necessary to motivate our children and our youth to reflect on the great nation that is India.

The awardees for the year 2010-11 and 2011-12 had called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan here. Mukherjee congratulated the winners and also the Tata Group for their initiative in conducting the essay competition.
 

The President said that he was confident that participation of students in national level initiatives such as Tata Building India School Essay Competition would inculcate in them a sustained commitment to the country and that they would play a proactive and positive role in its development as a great nation, Mukherjee was quoted as saying in a press release.

The 'Tata Building India School Essay Competition' is an initiative of the Tata Group to motivate school children to think positively about the country by writing an essay on a topic of nation building.

Instituted in 2006, as an English language competition in six cities with one lakh students, the competition has grown rapidly with two million students now participating each year.
