The deceased was identified as Resham Singh (38), an adhoc school teacher. He was returning on his motorcycle to Harbanspura-Jagjitpur village last night when his bike rammed a fallen tree near Dhada village on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road, they said.

The tree had fallen on the road due to strong wind and Resham could not notice it due to darkness, they added.

Three other persons, Milan Bahadur, Shiv Bahadur and Inder Bahadur, who were coming on another motorcycle, also crashed into the same tree and sustained injuries, police said.

The injured trio, serving in a private educational institution, were hospitalised at Phagwara, they said.
