The Puducherry government today inked an MoU with a Chennai-based hospital to perform cardiac surgeries at the Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Post Graduate Institute here.

His government had been providing such persons a sum of Rs two lakh each through Medical Relief Society but they had to incur more expenses for their stay and for other liabilities.

With the availability of the medical treatment from the Frontier Hospital through its experts, patients from here would be saved the need to go to Chennai, he said.

Rangasamy said government general hospital has the necessary infrastructure for performing cardiac surgeries, which would be performed on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The facility as a result of the MoU would be available in the next 15 days, he said.
