MoU signed between Himachal, Punjab govts for ropeway project

The MoU was signed by Dr K S Sra and Dr Arun Kumar, Director Tourism Punjab and Himachal Pradesh respectively on behalf of two governments in the presence of Chief Ministers of Punjab and Himachal, Prakash Singh Badal and P K Dhumal.

The ropeway with a span of 3,751m is estimated to cost about Rs 85 crore and out of total length 3,476.435m area falls in Himachal while the remaining 274.582m area was in Punjab and the two states would share the cost on 50:50 basis. The project was slated for completion in three years.

Expressing happiness over signing of the MOU, Badal said that it would further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the people of two states.

 

The project, hanging fire for decades came through following series of meetings between the two states at different levels and it has taken shape today, he added.
