Mount Abu coldest at 4.6 degrees in Rajasthan

As the mercury dipped further, Mount Abu on hills, and Sikar in plains were the coldest places in Rajasthan.

The north easterly cold winds led to a dip in the mercury by one to three degrees at most places in the state in last 24 hours, a MeT official said today.

Last night, Mount Abu recorded the minimum temperature at 4.6 followed by Sikar at 5.8 degrees Celsius.

While, Churu recorded minimum of 6.3 degree C, Tonk 7.2, Sriganganagar 7.6, Udaipur 8, Pilani 8.5, and Sawaimadhopur 8.8 degrees Celsius, the official said.

Cold conditions further intensified in Jaipur last night as mercury plummeted to 9 degree C, a notch less than the previous night.
 

The minimum temperature ranged between 9 and 12.3 degrees at other places in the state.

The cold coditions will continue over the state in next 24 hours, a MeT forecast said.

Meanwhile, North Western Railway's ten trains were running late from one hour to six hours due to fog in adjoining states of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, CPRO Tarun Jain said.

While the Guwahati-Barmer train was running late by 6 hr 30 min, Howrah-Sriganganagar train was delayed by 4 hr 45 min, followed by Howrah-Jodhpur which was late by 3 hrs 25 min, and Kota-Sriganganagar train by 2 hrs 40 min, he said.

Ajmer-Jammu Tawai train is rescheduled due to fog in Himachal and Punjab, he added.
