Moushumi, Sushmita, Rani, Bipasha honoured by WB govt

Bollywood actresses Moushumi Chatterjee, Sushmita Sen, Rani Mukherjee and Bipasha Basu were today felicitated by the West Bengal government at the closing ceremony of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).

The 'Panch Kanya' (Five Women) award was also given to Bengali actress Koel Mullick at a gala event at the Science City auditorium here.

On this occasion, former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen said, "When you get an award at your home it is the biggest achievement. It is like being blessed by your own family."

Model-turned-actress Bipasha Basu, who was brought up in this city, said, "Being a Bengali makes me very proud."
 

Rani Mukherjee and veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee also said they are very proud of their origin from the state.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "We will bring back the golden era of Bengal."

During the event, Bangladeshi film 'Television' (2012) directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award.

Altogether nine films from south Asian countries were competing for the award.
