The VHP today alleged that the Maharashtra government's decision to clear a proposal to promulgate an ordinance for enacting a bill against black magic, blind faith and superstition has been taken in "haste".
"Because they could not stop (Narendra) Dabholkar's murder, they have taken this decision in haste and to cover their failure," Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Venkatesh Abdeo alleged while talking to reporters here.
Stating that they are opposed to black magic, Abdeo said that does not mean the government should take a decision which would affect the Hindu 'dharma'.
"The government must withdraw their decision to promulgate an ordinance for enacting bill against black magic. After holding discussions with 'warkaris' (devotees of Lord Vitthal), the government should reach to a final conclusion," he said.
"They (government) have taken this decision to take advantage of the sympathy towards Dr Dabholkar," he alleged.
The VHP leaders would meet Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan and Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on the issue and would seek to withdraw the decision, Abdeo added.
