A movie based on record executive Alan McGee is in the works with "Trainspotting" author Irvine Welsh writing the script.
Kaleidoscope Film Distribution will handle worldwide sales on the feature film "Creation Stories" starting next week at the Cannes Film Festival, reported Variety.
The film is based on McGee's autobiography, "The Creation Records Story: Riots, Raves and Running a Label". McGee, a native of Glasgow, co-founded and ran the label from 1983 to 1999.

Creation Records launched bands such as Oasis, Primal Scream and the Jesus & Mary Chain. Welsh had a close relationship with McGee and first-hand experience of Creation Records' trials and triumphs.
Welsh, a native of Edinborough, co-wrote the script with Dave Cavanagh. He also wrote "Filth" and "Porno" but is best known for his 1993 debut novel "Trainspotting", which was adapted into a 1996 film starring Ewan McGregor.
