Spielberg, 65, began his career in 1973 and has won Oscars for his films "Schindler's List" and "Saving Private Ryan", reported Daily Mail.
"I never felt like a victim. Movies really helped me... kind of saved me from shame, from guilt. Making movies was my great escape. When I felt like an outsider, movies made me feel inside my own skill set," he said.
The Cincinnati-born filmmaker has never allowed the learning disability to interfere with his professional life and continues to work today.
His latest project "Lincoln" is set for release in November.
