Madhya Pradesh tribal development department has blacklisted 18 colleges which run paramedical courses for alleged involvement in a scam related to scholarship funds.
"A total of 18 paramedical colleges found guilty in the scholarship scam probe were blacklisted, and release of scholarship amounts meant for the reserved category students in these colleges has been banned," an official release issued by J P Yadav, assistant commissioner, tribal development department, said today.
Lokayukta police have so far registered 16 cases against these colleges, wherein directors of colleges too are named, along with government officials.

Instead of transferring the money through Internet banking, the college authorities in connivance with government officials deposited it in accounts opened in the name of fictitious persons and syphoned it off, police said.
