Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has urged the District Deputy Commissioner to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the charges of anomalies in the allotment of houses sanctioned under the central government's Indira Awas Yojana and Basava Vasati Housing scheme.

Some of the beneficiaries of the schemes were not reportedly residing in the district as per provisions of the scheme, he alleged in a statement here.

Many central government schemes were not being implemented in time, he said adding that poor households were not getting the benefit of schemes like the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Programme.

Kateel, who presided over a district level review meeting at the office of the Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat said officials responsible for implementation of the programmes should ensure that they were doing their duty effectively.
