The first day of the monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly was adjourned on Monday after members paid tributes to departed leaders and two CRPF troopers.

After the House assembled for the first day of the session, speaker Narmada Prasad Prajapati paid tribute to former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar and eight other leaders, the latter former members of the MP Assembly.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, his predecessor Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Leader of the Opposition Gopal Bhargava expressed grief and invoked their contribution in public life.

The House observed two-minute silence to pay respect to Parrikar, former members of MP Assembly Vimla Verma, Shivnarayan Meena, Sunderlal Tiwari, Gangabai Uraiti, Vijay Kumar Patni, Satish Kumar Chauhan, Meera Dhurve and Balram Singh Thakur.

It also paid tribute to Harish Chandra Pal, a CRPF jawan hailing from Bhopal killed while fighting Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari district in April, and CRPF trooper Sandeep Yadav from Dewas district who died in a terror attack in Jammu-Kashmir's Anantnag last month.

Thereafter, Prajapati adjourned the House for the day.
