The Madhya Pradesh Assembly was today adjourned till March 4 after paying tributes to senior Congress leader Radhakishan Malviya, sitting BJP MLA Khuman Singh Shivaji and Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh's wife Asha Singh, who passed away recently.

Malviya, who was a former Union Minister, MP and MLA, passed away on February 19, while Shivaji and Asha Singh died yesterday after a prolonged illness.

As the House assembled for the day, Speaker Ishwardas Rohani mentioned about the death of Malviya and Shivaji and recalled their contributions in the socio-political field.

On behalf of the BJP Legislature Party, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recalled the deeds of Malviya and Shivaji.

Mourning Asha Singh's death, Chouhan said that she was an affectionate and a very cultured lady and prayed to the almighty to give strength to the bereaved families.

Recalling the days of Congress rule when Digvijay Singh was the Chief Minister for ten years in the state, Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh said during that period people hardly saw Asha at any public function and that she was totally devoted to her family.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Legislature Party Leader Ram Lakhan Singh also paid tributes to the departed leaders.

The House later observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls and the Speaker adjourned it till March 4.
