MP: Bank official arrested on graft charges

A branch manager of a public sector bank was today arrested after he was caught taking bribe from a farmer to approve a loan by the Lokayukta Police in Madhya Pradesh's Barwani district.

Kumar Jitendra, 41, who was serving as the branch manager in the Bank of Baroda in Khetia town, was caught red-handed on the complaint of Jeevan Choudhary, Lokayukta Police Inspector Yuvraj Singh Chouhan said.

The complainant's father had applied for a crop loan of Rs 4 lakh. The accused had asked Choudhary for bribe to approve the loan, and had already taken Rs 5,000 from him, he said.
 

Today, the Lokayukta sleuths nabbed him while he was accepting the remaining bribe amount of Rs 4,000, he said.

A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered and the accused has been arrested, he said, adding further investigation is on.
