A case was registered against a BJP leader here for alleged violation of the model code of conduct in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, a police official said Sunday.

Local BJP leader Surendra Singh Dhankhedhi was booked in connection with an October 15 rally of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Manglia village here, Kshiptra police station in-charge Ajay Kumar Verma told PTI Sunday.

State Congress secretary Rakesh Singh Yadav said that he had filed a complaint with the Election Commission that students of a government school were made to attend this rally and carry placards with pictures of Chouhan and Sanwer MLA Rajesh Sonkar.

Verma said that, on the basis of an inquiry report of Sanwar's sub divisional magistrate, a case was registered Saturday under section 188 of the IPC (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

The state goes to polls on November 28 and votes will be counted on December 11.
