The chief executive officer of Saikhedha Janpad Panchayat in Narsinghpur district was caught red-handed today by the Lokayukta sleuths while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 today.
Pradeep Sharma, the accused, had demanded the bribe from sarpanch Ajay Dwivedi for clearing bills of the development work carried out under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, said Lokayukta inspector Prabhat Shukla.
Sharma had demanded Rs 20,000, of which Dwivedi had earlier paid Rs 10,000.
He was arrested while accepting the balance amount at his official residence in Gadarwara town.
