Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today announced an assistance of Rs 1 crore to the family of rifleman Ram Avtar, who was killed in heavy Pakistani shelling along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
Avtar (27) was a resident of Baraua village in Gwalior district and is survived by his wife Rachna, son Divyansh and a three-month-old daughter.
Chouhan announced that the family of the martyred soldier would be given a house, a monthly pension of Rs 5,000, adding that a statue of Avtar would be erected at one of the traffic junctions of Gwalior.
The MP chief minister was here in the evening to pay respects to the soldier.
