Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister
Kamal Nath has called the meeting of the state Cabinet at his residence here which is expected to begin shortly, hours after senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia and at least 17 MLAs who are believed to be supporting him suddenly became 'incommunicado' on Monday.
Soon after returning to Bhopal by cutting short his visit to Delhi, Nath held an urgent meeting of ministers and senior Congress leaders at his residence in the evening, sources said.
"After holding a meeting for nearly two hours, the chief minister decided to summon the meeting of the state Cabinet around 10 pm. Nath is expected to make some major announcement at the meeting," sources said.
Earlier in the day, Nath met Congress president Sonia Gandhi ahead of the crucial Rajya Sabha polls and to discuss the political scenario in the state in the wake of alleged attempts by the BJP to poach some MLAs of the Congress.
