Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wants the BJP to call off a function in Bhopal next month wherein he will be felicitated for completing ten years in office in the wake of ongoing agrarian crisis in the state.

"I am going to request my party's senior office-bearers to cancel the function being hosted to mark completion of my ten years in office as Chief Minister on November 29 as farmers are in distress following scanty rainfall that has damaged their crops," Chouhan said while addressing an event here today.

The CM said that farmers are his priority.

"Right now, farmers are first to me and my felicitation is secondary. At this moment, the entire state government is with farmers and I have sought help from Prime Minister for them," the CM said, adding that his government stood behind farmers like a solid rock.

Chouhan announced that a time-bound plan has been charted out to provide succour to farmers by January 31.
