On a day the monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly was adjourned sine die ahead of schedule, the Congress has accused the Legislative Assembly Speaker of playing into the hands of the ruling BJP.
"The Speaker acted like a puppet in the hands of legislative affairs minister in running the House. This has been proved today," alleged Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh.
The speaker today adjourned the monsoon session sine die three days ahead of the schedule, inviting criticism from the opposition Congress.
Referring to the no-trust motion moved by him and senior Congress MLA Ramniwas Rawat, the opposition leader said the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) would raise the issues like corruption mentioned in the motion on the Assembly campus for the next three days.
"We doubted that ruling BJP would run away from debate on the no-confidence motion. Our hunch proved right. The five-day session was adjourned sine die in just two days at the behest of the BJP government," Singh told reporters.
Earlier today, the members of the BJP opposed the no-confidence motion and sought the passage of a censure motion against the Emergency.
