Madhya Pradesh Congress president Arun Yadav today alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi "disrespected" the traditions of Kumbh Mela by not taking a dip in the Shipra river and by not visiting the Mahakaleshwar temple during his visit.

"The Prime Minister by not taking a holy dip in Shipra river and also by not paying respect to Lord Mahakal during his visit to Ninora in Ujjain for International Vaicharik Mahakumbh has disrespected the age-old tradition," he alleged.

The PM, along with Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena, visited Ninora near Ujjain today to take part in the concluding session of International Vichar Mahakumbh (conference), organised as a part of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.

The Kumbh Mela will officially end on May 21 with a third Shahi Snan (royal bath).
